Hire a Dallas Commercial Director for Your Next Commercial or Brand Film
A director for hire in Dallas — not an account layer
I’m Alex Kinter, a Dallas-based commercial director, cinematographer and corporate videographer. For 15+ years I’ve directed and shot commercials, brand films and corporate video for national brands, agencies and Dallas companies — and I’m the one behind the camera on every project that carries my name.
If you’re a marketing lead who needs the video to actually work, or an agency producer who needs a director you can hand a board to, this page explains how I work and how to bring me in.

Four ways to hire me in Dallas
Commercial Director
Concept to final cut on spots for broadcast, streaming and paid social. I direct talent, run the set and sit in the edit — so the idea that sold in the pitch is the idea that ships. A director’s job is to translate the brief and the script into something people feel: the concept, the treatment, the boards, the performances, the coverage and the cut.
Director of Photography / Cinematographer
Already have a director or a creative team? Bring me in as DP. Lighting, camera and lens choices built for the brand’s look, with a Dallas camera and G&E crew I’ve worked with for years. Dallas cinematographer →
Dallas Videographer
Interviews, testimonials, events, behind-the-scenes and social content, shot and delivered by one person who also knows how it needs to cut. Small footprint, cinema-grade result. Dallas videographer →
Corporate Videographer
Executive messages, recruiting films, training and internal comms. I’ve shot inside enough corporate environments to know how to get a real performance out of someone who’d rather be in a meeting. Corporate videographer →
Not sure which one fits? Tell me what the video needs to do and I’ll tell you what role you actually need.

How I work with brands, agencies and in-house teams
Brands hiring direct. You get a director, not an account layer. I write or refine the concept with you, build the shoot plan, direct the day and lead post. One person owns the result.
Agencies and production companies. Send the boards or treatment brief. I’ll come back with a director’s treatment, shot approach and crew list; on set I protect the creative while your producer runs the schedule.
What a director actually changes on set
In-house marketing teams. Have a crew or an editor already? I slot in as director or DP, work with your people, and hand off footage and notes that make your editor’s life easier.
What a director actually changes. Performances that don’t feel read, coverage that cuts, a look that matches the brand instead of the camera default, and fewer “we’ll fix it in post” conversations. On the day I’m the single point of contact between you and the crew, working shoulder to shoulder with the cinematographer so what we planned in pre-production is what ends up on the card.
Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between hiring a commercial director and hiring a video production company?
A production company sells you a team and a process. A director is the person responsible for what the video looks and feels like. When you hire me directly you’re hiring that person; when a project needs full-service production support, I bring in the crew and post team it needs and still direct it myself.
Can I hire you only as a cinematographer / DP?
Yes. Agencies and directors bring me in as DP regularly. Send the treatment or boards and I’ll come back with a lighting and camera approach, a lens plan and a Dallas camera crew recommendation.
Videographer or cinematographer — which do I need?
If it’s an interview, event, testimonial or social piece where one person shooting and delivering is the right size, you need a videographer. If it’s a commercial, brand film or anything with a lighting design, talent and a director, you need a cinematographer. I do both — the consultation is where we pick.
Do you work with our existing crew or editor?
Yes. I’m comfortable directing a crew I haven’t met and I’ll hand your editor organised footage, selects and a cut plan. If you don’t have a crew, I’ll build one from the Dallas people I trust.
How long does a project take?
A single-day corporate or interview shoot typically delivers two to three weeks after filming. A commercial or brand film with casting and multiple locations usually runs six to ten weeks kickoff to delivery. We lock the schedule in pre-production.
Do you shoot outside Dallas–Fort Worth?
Yes. I’m based in Dallas and travel for clients regularly; out-of-market shoots are planned the same way with travel built into the schedule.
